Lower Manhattan Gets UK Style CCTV Security Camera System

As 2007 comes to an end in New York City the Lower Manhattan area should have around 100 new CCTV Security Cameras online. According to a plan appropriately titled “The Lower Manhattan Security Initiative” this is the start of thousands of cameras all connected to a central network monitored by the New York City Police Department. So far the project appears to be 25% funded and as monies become available the initiative will continue.
