Ask A CCTV Expert

Ask A CCTV Expert On The Tech-Army.org ForumsComputer Service Now, in conjunction with the Tech-Army, is hosting a discussion thread where you can ask our staff of CCTV technicians and installers any security camera related questions you would like.

Our staff has been using the Tech-Amy Technical Forums for over a year and this new thread should be a great way to stay in touch with our customers, or our potential customers, who have a technical question on their security camera project.

We would of course encourage our readers to ask all the right questions prior to making your securituy camera hardware purchase, so pre and post sales questions are all welcome.

To make your post first register on the Tech-Army Forum and then post your CCTV / security camera questions here.

Philadelphia is getting help from Security Cameras

Mayor John Street is not a stranger to crime. Born into a violent rural community in Norristown, Mayor Street began his public career as a community activist for peace. Today he announced a plan to add 250 security cameras to city streets.

The first of the cameras will be installed in the violent neighborhood around 52nd and Market Streets in West Philadelphia according to Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Gaittens. The first of the cameras could be operational as little as two weeks.

The cameras will all be wireless, highly visible to deter criminals, and monitored by a new class of civilian police workers.

The $9 million deal between the city and Unisys provide video surveillance to a large area of the city.

City Council members Darrell Clarke and Donna Reed Miller promised legislation that would authorize a similar amount for another 250 cameras next year - 500 altogether by 2009.

About the Philadelphia Mayor:
John F. Street was sworn in as Philadelphia's 97th Mayor on January 3, 2000.

Setting Up Dynamic DNS On A GeoVision DVR

GeoVision DNS Setup - A Video By Bryan WoodAnother video is out from Bryan Wood of Camera Security Now. This time he shows us how to set up a Dynamic DNS entry on your GeoVision DVR. Taking advantage of this feature will allow users to create their own domain name for internet access to the remote view of their cameras.

Once complete from any where on the internet you simply type the domain name into your browser and it will resolve to your GeoVision DVR, even if you do not have a static IP.

The best thing is this is a free service offered by GeoVision and as you can see from the video it can be set up in under 5 minutes.
